Episode 10
September 23, 2008 01:14 PM PDT
The long-awaited second instalment of Matt's B-Side Remix Extravaganza is now upon us. There were several who had doubts as to whether I could follow up the brilliant original with a comparable second. I say let the b-sides do the talking themselves. If it's half as popular as the last one we're in business. Lykke Li - I'm Good I'm Gone (Metronomy Remix)

Here's the latest instalment to get you through those long winter nights. This one runs for over an hour so I suggest that you take it all in your stride. Rather than stick with any one theme or genre I've decided to give you an insight into the kind of stuff float rounds in Matt Vinyls head and record shelves. Some of the tunes are fairly recent, some are fairly old. The one thing that they all have in common is that they're individually brilliant. I also think thatthey don't go too badly together. As with the last podcast I've dispensed with the talk. The music should be a more than adequate replacement for that. If you like what you hear feel free to leave a comment or even a suggestion for future podcasts. Here's the playlist: 1. This Time (Dub) - DJ Shadow

There's been a breakdance podcast rumbling about in the background for the last couple of months. It's finally upon us as we take a step back in time to 1983/1984. The heyday of body-poppin, moon-walking and some pretty naff clothing. I considered myself a bit of a fan and I've picked up a few records over the years. Most of the following are taken from their seven inch vinyl source but a few of them are longer 12" mixes. I've decided to dispense with the chat for this podcast episode so roll out the lino and get ready for a break-off. The tracklist is: Hey You Rock Steady Crew - Rock Steady Crew

This podcast selection is a mish mash of stuff that I've picked up on vinyl in the last couple of weeks. All respect for established musical boundaries should be left behind as you face a lucky dip of musical variety. I hope that you enjoy the next 40 minutes of your musical life. Here's the featured songs: Nancy Elizabeth – Hey Son
Until next time. Matt Matt's Tribute to The KLF
August 14, 2007 02:13 PM PDT
Here's a tribute to The KLF. It's made up of some of the stuff that I have by them on vinyl. I get a great kick out of The KLF and I've always admired the tongue in cheek nature of their work. They brought the idea of sampling to a new level. They also brought a certain level of madenss to proceedings and this is evident in all of the following tunes. Sit back and enjoy The KLF. Here's the playlist: 3Am Eternal – The KLF feat. The Children of the Revolution

The latest podcast was hilarious to make. I recorded myself on the smallest computer microphone in the world. As such I would pay small heed to the interruptions by me between tunes. It features some new stuff on 7" by Cornelius, Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear, CSS and J-Live amongst others. Sit back and enjoy. The Smooth Summer Vinyl Mix

Here's the latest mix and this contains some beauties by the likes of 10CC, Ray, Goodman & Brown and Razzy. It also features the full length version of Eddie Kendricks brilliant 'Girl you need a change of mind'. Vinyl Mix 2

Matt's First Podcast
March 22, 2007 04:29 PM PDT
Here's the original and one of the best podcasts that I made. It features a nice selection of tunes including one by reggae greats The Lovejoys, funkmasters O'Donnell Levy and the brilliant Eugene McDaniels. |
